Attend Upcoming Chicago Hearing on Illinois' Prison Healthcare System
On April 4th in Chicago, Representative Greg Harris will hold a public hearing on HR57, a proposal to provide independent oversight of Illinois Department of Correction's healthcare system. This is perhaps the first public hearing on prison healthcare in Illinois history. It is in response to the John Howard Association's recent work on medical and mental health conditions and services inside the Illinois Department of Corrections.
JHA urges members of the public to attend the hearing to learn more, present relevant testimony, and demonstrate the importance of prison health care: that prison health is public health.
