Illinois: A Modern Day Slave State
I guess, that would make me a modern day slave, wait…,
As I continue, allow me to explain;
Put no faith in politicians who lie, in campaigns
All for personal gain, just modernize the chains
Cut the noose, from our necks, then tied around our brains
Turn a man, into cattle, corral them into a bullpen
Build penitentiaries, and make sure they are full when;
They steal tax dollars, killing all the noise
As we act like Pharaoh, killing all the boys
In Illinois: A Modern Day Slave State
Just lock you away, could care less if you rehabilitate
Keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that you debilitate
Correctional Overseers unionize as they demonstrate
They can brand you with a number, and you won’t escape
Prison riot, overseers down, bring the yellow tape
Concentration Camp, Prison, or Plantation
A source for slave labor, all over the nation
So-called Democrats, do not care, if you’re black
Found a way to get paid from your crimes, always remember that
As long as you stay a criminal, chasing after cash
In Illinois: A Modern Day Slave State, did I mention?
I’m living dead, everyday in a cage, will you listen?
Don’t talk, instead, protest, display your rage, politicians;
Are overseers, with no oversight, pay attention
No matter if you confess, or are a first time felon
Being diplomatic failed, I think it’s time to start yelling
If they ignore my pleas, what have I got to lose?
I bet you they’ll pay attention, once the overseer’s bruised
I choose, to invite, you all, as I incite:
A riot, doing nothing else with my time, my insight
Leads me to believe, no matter what I achieve;
I’ll always be denied, they’ll never take heed
And only makes matters worse, if we make, Massa’ bleed
Ironic: in the land of Lincoln, begging to be freed;
In Illinois, A Modern Day Slave State
