JHA brings the voices of incarcerated people in Illinois outside of the prison walls, informing and educating the public, media and key decision makers in order to improve the system by reducing recidivism, increasing public safety and making a difference in prisoners’ daily lives.  We use our on-the-ground, hands-on experience and observations from inside the prisons to inform needed policy and legislative changes and action. 

You’ll receive all JHA written reports, statements, and commentary as they are issued, including but not limited to those regarding:

• Specific correctional facilities

• Current or proposed legislation and policies

• Special topics ranging from prisoner healthcare to treatment of incarcerated individuals
